During the pendemic, I formed a team with two friends (Yvonne Geng, Bilan Liu) to participate in Adobe Design Jam, and we managed to get the 8th place in the team. Our challenge was to design a third-party desktop app that would provide a shared viewing experience for the community.

People were restricted from outdoor group activities during the outbreak, therefore online interaction activities became a hot topic. How to make the experience more realistic and interactive was our top priority, and to make the interaction natural, fluid, and engaging was our goal. We decided to facilitate deeper engagement with the following ideas:
We have created a task flow, this also helped us to show the most important pages and to divide up works.
Movier is a website that enables moviegoers to watch movies with live users. We devoted a lot to create an immersive watching experience by recreating the cinema environment with dark theme colors.
As moviegoers, the common behaviors are to share opinions about the movie with the public and save scenes that they are fascinated with. To satisfy the needs, users can not only use our chatroom to chat before and after the movie, but also view and post real-time bullet comments during the movie.
The bullet comments will be passing across the screen, with the option of turning it off.
Moreover, to allow users to save and revisit their favorite scene, Movier provides the function “Highlights” to allow users to mark out their favorite parts in a movie.
Nevertheless, users can create an Event to watch movies with people all around the world and discuss with other moviegoers in our Forum. With the link generated at the end of the event creating process, they can invite friends to sign up and join the event.
…or users can also simply join an Event to watch a movie together based on popularity, starting time, or movie genre. In additional to that, the users can even join an Avengers Marathon.
With Collections, Events, Forums, users can always keep track of their watched movies, and are able to revisit their shared insights with the communities.
